Daily Prompt: Folly

via Daily Prompt: Folly

A “folly” means a “mistake”. Plain and simple.

Follies are things that all of us commit every day…well, almost.  Sometimes a folly happens and we don’t even know it. It may be as simple as forgetting to do a daily chore or giving your grandmother the wrong pill after lunch. Whatever it is, follies do make us improve ourselves, if we recognize their presence, that is; and ultimately help us better ourselves with each passing day so that we do not commit that same mistake, error or wrong again!

I do not think there is any such thing as a ‘big’ folly. Follies usually refer to small or tiny mistakes that do not cause any major harm to others, but they are mistakes nonetheless and must be corrected or apologized for.

…Sorry for any follies that I might have made while writing this piece!

How to Find and Support Trustworthy Journalism

Josh Stearns

If you are hungry for news you can trust, journalism that helps you make decisions about your community, reporting that holds power to account, then this is for you. This is my personal advice for people who want to support journalism that matters. It is just a starting point, it is not comprehensive, and it’ll become stronger and more useful if you add your ideas to it. Use the comments to add your list of newsrooms you subscribe to and support.

Now more than ever, it is important to our democracy that we seek out and support good journalism. Every person is going to construct their media diet differently, so any list I create will be incomplete. My goal here is to provide a framework for you to find the news that will challenge, inspire, inform and engage you.

The perfectly relaxed cat

Relax

When I saw the picture of a lying cat as the cover for the daily post on “relax”, I immediately thought of placing two pictures of my own house cat Matilda as a reply, specially because she’s the perfect example of somebody who is as relaxed as can be about life…she spends 18 to 20 hours of the day lying supine in a particular corner of the staircase and does not have a care in the world as long as she gets her daily meal and a comfortable place to rest in. Don’t we all wish life was as simple as this! These photos were captured by me recently for a university project.
